Danny Dyer has shared news of another new acting role – and it’s a far cry from Mick Carter in EastEnders!
The legendary actor left the BBC One soap on Christmas Day in 2022, in a story that saw his pub landlord character Mick washed out to sea following an altercation with Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) and presumed dead.
Since leaving, he’s taken on a range of different projects, including starring in the Channel 5 drama Heat that was created and directed by the Neighbours production team.
He also recently participated in a special version of The Great British Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer charity.
Recently, he was photographed fighting in a street as he filmed new movie Marching Powder.
However, today he announced yet another string to his bow, as he’s set to take on the role of a priest in short film The Eternal Words of a Dead Verse.
Taking to Instagram, Danny informed his 1.4m followers about the news and shared photos of him in character.
‘The Eternal words of a Dead Verse..written and directed by my brilliant friend Gilbert Kyem Jnr with the wonderful Jessie Bedrossian playing my daughter’ he began.
‘Who the f*ck would have thought I could play a priest eh. Coming soon.’
The announcement was well received by fans and former colleagues.
EastEnders co-star Milly Zero, who played Dotty Cotton, tagged both Dyer and Bedrossian, who is known for roles in dramas Granchester and Casualty, saying ‘what a team!!’.
Irish actress Victoria Smurfit added: ‘That would get me back to Church.’
We wonder what Walford churchgoer Yolande Trueman would think of his new career?
