Chelsea Reports suggest that Chelsea and other clubs are interested in signing Athletico Paranaense's goalkeeper Bento, but they are facing tough competition from several other clubs.
In the last two seasons, Bento has become the main goalkeeper for Athletico and recently made his debut for Brazil.
Because Alisson and Ederson were injured, Bento played in matches against both England – and managed to not let any goals in – and Spain, although he conceded three goals in the second match.
According to Globo Esporte, several European clubs closely monitored Bento in both matches, possibly for a summer transfer.
Inter Milan and Benfica are interested in Bento, while Chelsea, Wolves, and Nottingham Forest from the Premier League have been scouting him as well.
Chelsea has been using both Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic as goalkeepers this season, but they still want to improve this position.
According to Globo, interest in Bento has increased significantly after his Brazil debut, and Athletico will try to sell him, albeit for a high price.
In January, Athletico rejected a £12.5million offer from an unnamed club and a slightly lower offer from Benfica, but they believe they can get a much bigger fee now.
European and especially Italian clubs are interested in the 24-year-old because he holds an Italian passport, making a transfer much smoother.
Bento is in a good position to become the first-choice goalkeeper in the near future, as he is significantly younger than Alisson and Ederson.
He showed composure and confidence in the match against England at Wembley, and two of the three goals he let in against Spain were from penalty kicks, with him performing well otherwise.
This season at Athletico, Bento has only suffered one defeat and conceded six goals in 11 matches, achieving five clean sheets.
Despite concerns about the Premier League's financial rules, Chelsea is expected to make a big transfer this summer, with Sporting forward Viktor Gyokeres emerging as their main target to strengthen their attack.
