There have been long delays on the motorway because a lorry crashed into a bridge.
A lorry struck a bridge on the southbound side of the road. M6 this morning.
Two lanes are closed in Cheshire after the accident, causing a five-mile traffic queue.
Drivers should expect one-hour delays. National Highways said.
Two out of four lanes are closed on the M6 southbound between junctions J17 (Sandbach) and J16 (Crewe).
National Highways has warned that traffic is anticipated to return to normal by 10:15am.
At 5:25am, National Highways cautioned that three lanes were closed following the crash.
Highway crews managed to open one more lane shortly before 7am.
Efforts to remove vehicles from the site are ongoing.
