The radio icon admitted, 'Well, I don't do drugs and I made up this number because I was tired of being asked about my personal life. Not my finest moment, to be honest.
He added, 'I didn't read my autobiography before it was published. It was foolish.'
Just seven years after the book was published, he married his second wife Debbie Thompson, with whom he has a daughter named Victoria.
Tony has two grandsons and also has a son Simon, 50, from his first wife Tessa Wyatt, whom he was married to from 1972 to 1977.
Last month, the DJ announced that he was retiring from his famous show after 15 years, with his final show airing on March 24.
