A man lost his life in a head-on car crash after driving in the wrong direction on the M62 in West. Yorkshire.
At 2.06am yesterday, police were told about a Vauxhall Corsa driving the wrong way on the motorway heading west.
Officials discovered the car had crashed into a VW Golf near the Scammonden Bridge.
The male Corsa driver was declared dead at the scene. The VW Golf driver was seriously hurt and taken to a nearby hospital.
Three fire trucks went to the location.
For a short time, the police shut down both sides of the road between Junctions 22 and 24, but they have now opened them again, as per National Highways North-West.
The agency said: ‘There are no lasting delays in the area.’
West Yorkshire Police are asking for people who witnessed the crash or have footage of it to come forward.
