A couple who became pregnant a week after meeting have said they have proven doubters wrong now that they are happily married two years on.
Maggie Corbould, 23, had ‘given up on love’ when she decided to give it one last shot and downloaded the dating app Hinge.
It was there that she met 23-year-old Danny Corbould. The pair decided to take a chance and went out in February 2022, describing their meeting as ‘love at first sight.’
However, the couple were ‘shocked’ when they found out they were pregnant, quickly realizing they must have conceived the baby a week after meeting.
Maggie, a special effects co-ordinator from Windsor, said she had ‘kind of given up on love’ and wasn’t sure she’d ever find the one after ending a six-year relationship in 2021.
However, she was so keen on Danny that she subscribed to the app so she could message him. They met up and spent hours talking.
Maggie and Danny spent as much time as possible together but were shocked to find out Maggie was pregnant in March 2022, especially since she was on contraception.
Danny, who now works as a trainee in special effects but was previously in the Army, said: ‘I’m a very unsure person but as soon as I met her, I knew I loved her.’
The dad says he was initially scared at how fast everything happened but ‘as soon as I saw that first scan all my worries went away.’
Knowing they could only get military housing if they were married, the pair tied the knot in a small ceremony in June 2022 – just four months after meeting.
‘We were still learning so many things about each other. It was a rollercoaster,’ Maggie said.
Maggie was induced on Christmas Day 2022 at 37 weeks so Danny could meet their son before he was deployed. Edward was born on December 26, 2022, at 10:46am, weighing 7lbs 1oz.
Now 15 months, Edward is a happy little tot and the family are looking forward to spending more time together now Danny has stepped down from the army.
Maggie said: ‘I think people expect us to have broken up. Finding out I was pregnant after only a week was a shock. When I look back I wouldn’t do it differently at all.’
‘I love our little love story. I wouldn’t have changed anything,’ Danny added. ‘I can’t wait for the rest of our future as the Corbould family.’
