Harry and Meghan have contacted William and Kate after the Princess of Wales announced she is receiving treatment for cancer..
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are thought to have made contact 'privately' last night, with reports in the US suggesting they only found out when the rest of the world did.
One source told the New York Post 'they had no idea'.
The conversation between the princes was revealed by ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship, who stated on X the Sussexes ‘have both reached out’ to the Waleses ‘but did so privately’.
He added that it is unclear what form that took.
Harry once described Kate as ‘the big sister I never had’, and the two enjoyed a close bond after she married Prince William.
But that relationship fell apart after he introduced his wife Meghan Markle to the couple and they eventually broke away from the royal family.

The news of Kate’s illness will have ‘devastated’ Harry, according to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams.
He told The Sun the unexpected diagnosis is the ‘perfect opportunity’ for he and Meghan to mend their rift with the Waleses.
Mr Fitzwilliams said: He’ll probably be pretty devastated I’d say. Whether he comes to the UK to visit Kate, time will have to tell.’
Last month, Harry returned to the UK after making an emergency trip from the US to see his father King Charles following his cancer diagnosis.
The duke cleared his schedule and made the trip alone, with Meghan and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet staying at home in California.
But there was no reconciliation between Harry and his brother the Prince of Wales during the visit, after the duke spent around 45 minutes at Clarence House seeing Charles.
He last appeared alongside the Windsors and the Waleses at the King’s coronation, but hurried home immediately afterwards to mark his son's fourth birthday.
Since stepping down as working royals in 2020 and moving to California with their family, the Sussexes have aired allegations and grievances against the monarchy and members of Harry's family.
The duke's allegations against his family seemed relentless after Megxit with his Oprah interview, and, in the months following the Queen’s death, his Netflix documentary and memoir Spare.
There were accusations of racism in relation to Archie’s skin tone before he was born – with the remarks in the end alleged to have come from two senior royals – and claims Kensington Palace lied to protect William over reports he allegedly bullied Harry out of the royal family.
The duke also accused William of physically attacking him and throwing him into a dog bowl in a disagreement over Meghan, teasing him about his panic attacks, and, along with Kate, encouraging him to wear a Nazi outfit at a costume party.
It's been said that Charles and Harry still talk, but William has apparently not been in touch with his brother for a long time.
