Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique wants his compatriot Mikel Arteta to win the Premier League with Arsenal but cannot look past defending champions Manchester City.
Arsenal threw away a commanding lead at the top of the table last season – eventually finishing five points behind Man City – but have not let that disappointment affect their current campaign.
Winning 20 of their 28 league games, Arsenal sit top on goal difference with ten games remaining as they attempt to lift the Premier League trophy for the first time since 2004.
Liverpool are the current joint-leaders on 64 points and have shown consistent and ruthless form in Jurgen Klopp’s final season at Anfield.
Formidable Manchester City, champions of England in five of the past six seasons, are breathing down Arsenal and Liverpool’s necks in third on 63 points.
Ex-Barcelona and Real Madrid star Enrique hopes Arteta guides Arsenal to a long-awaited title but expects Guardiola to once again get his hands on the Premier League trophy.
‘I would like it if Mikel Arteta won it with Arsenal,’ Enrique, who has been in charge of PSG since the summer of 2023, said on Twitch.
‘Otherwise, I’d like it to be Pep Guardiola, who has already won a lot. If not that, then it’s Aston Villa’s Unai Emery.
‘But I think Manchester City will win it, they are the favourites in my opinion.’
The title race may look a lot clearer after March 31 when current leaders Arsenal visit the Etihad Stadium to take on reigning champions Manchester City.
Gabriel Martinelli scored a late winner for Arsenal when the two sides met earlier in the campaign, but Manchester City ran out 4-1 winners in the corresponding fixture last season.
