Biden's reelection campaign released an ad specifically aimed at Latinos criticizing former President Trump for his comments in which he referred to immigrants as "rapists" who were "poisoning the blood" of the country.
The ad is 30 seconds long. ad Called “Change,” and exclusively shared with The Hill, the ad includes Biden's comments in Arizona this week criticizing his opponent's controversial language.
“This election is between me and a guy named Trump. He calls Latinos criminals, drug dealers, and rapists. Now he says immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country,” Biden said, with audio of Trump saying “rapists” and “poisoning the blood of our country.”
“What the hell is he talking about?” Biden said. “The reason we’re as good as we are is because we are the most diverse country in the world.”
The new ad will start airing on digital platforms in Spanish and English this weekend as part of the campaign’s $30 million ad buy following the State of the Union address. The ad will target battleground states, such as Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Florida, which has become a battleground state with this new ad.
The campaign’s Hispanic media director Maca Casado stated, “Let’s call Trump’s words and actions what they are: anti-Latino, anti-immigrant, and anti-American. President Biden knows diversity is our strength, and while Donald Trump recycles his cheap ad from 2020 to attempt to ‘win over’ Latinos, our community knows it’s Joe Biden who is really fighting for them and how terrible a Trump presidency would be for our community.”
This is the second Latino-focused ad released this week by the campaign and the second one released on Friday. The first ad, “Only One Choice,” was released on Tuesday, outlining the different policies between Biden and Trump for Latino voters. The earlier Latino-focused ad dropped on Friday was focused on outreach to Latinos and came ahead of the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) passage, criticizing Trump’s record on health care and his threats to repeal the law.The campaign also focused on engaging and mobilizing Latino voters this week during visits to Arizona, Nevada, and Texas, launching the national program Latinos con Biden-Harris.
