A dad was found guilty of killing his new baby by causing terrible injuries to him.
Michael Davis’ five-week-old son Ollie was discovered dead in his bedroom in Leicester in October 2017.
The boy had suffered 37 injuries including a broken neck, 23 broken ribs, and fractures to his skull, collarbone, arms, and legs.
He was found to have died from a broken neck, although not until some time after it was broken.
A court heard the injuries were inflicted during a 10-day campaign of abuse in the run-up to his death.
Ollie had been in the care of both his dad and mum, Kayleigh Driver, 31, both of whom failed to explain how the injuries happened.
Driver, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis last year, was cleared of murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
But she was found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child and causing or allowing serious physical injury.
Davis was found guilty on Friday of murder and two counts of causing grievous bodily harm.
The pair are due to be sentenced in April, with Davis facing a mandatory life sentence.
Ollie’s wider family paid tribute to the baby on Friday, calling him a ‘little ray of sunshine’.
In a statement they said: ‘Ollie, you came into our world on 21 September 2017. You melted our hearts with those big blue eyes.
‘Our little ray of sunshine. We have been left with such a void in our hearts. Ollie, life has never been the same.
‘You will always be with us our sweet boy. Until we meet again our little one. Catch all the love and kisses we send up to you. Your loving broken-hearted family.’
