Right at Home’s goal is to enhance the quality of life for the people they help. They focus on providing care at home for seniors and adults with disabilities who want to live independently. The caregivers and staff at Right at Home of Lower Berks County, Upper Chester County, and Western Montgomery County have been delivering exceptional care every day for nearly 10 years.
Recently, the company honored Bob Nelson for delivering outstanding care to clients in the area by presenting him with the Caregiver of the Year award for 2023 at a ceremony in Pottstown.
Before joining the Right At Home team, Nelson worked for various other agencies and has been a caregiver for over six years. He discovered his passion for looking after others while taking care of his blind grandfather during his childhood.
His grandfather lived close by and Nelson became his “sighted guide” while also enjoying teaching him about social media, the internet, and pop culture.
“I enjoy assisting people,” Nelson stated. “I have been doing it since I was young.”
After his grandfather passed away, he wanted to continue helping people and found a career as a caregiver. He is inspired by fictional characters, and his favorite quote from “All-Star Superman” written by Grant Morrison is “You are much stronger than you think you are.”
Kate Book, the Agency Director for Right at Home of Lower Berks County, Upper Chester County, and Western Montgomery County, thinks Bob is exceptional.
“The Caregiver of the Year is our top performer in terms of dependability,” said Book. “Bob truly goes the extra mile to deliver high-quality care for our clients and embodies our mission perfectly.”
“The award holds great significance for me,” Nelson expressed. “It’s wonderful to be acknowledged for doing what I love.”
