A billboard promoting a dating app was recently put up in Muang district of Nakhon Ratchasima, also known as Korat, and has received varying reactions from Thai internet users.
The billboard displays a three-line message that says, “Delicious dishes of Korat; Fried Korat noodle, Korat Ladies”, followed by the name “Tinder”, which is one of the most popular online dating apps with 55 billion matches so far.
The existence of the billboard was brought to attention after its photo was posted on the Korat Daily Facebook page. Some individuals who saw the billboard are not pleased, stating that the advertisement portrays Korat women in a negative light.
Nevertheless, many of those who commented on the Korat Daily Facebook page expressed their curiosity about using the dating app to find love. In response to negative comments, some encouraged others to “please relax and enjoy your life; it is an ad from Tinder, which is a dating app.”
Some people suggested that the billboard should be removed and questioned which authorities allowed its installation.
