LONDON, ENGLAND - NOVEMBER 15: Catherine, Princess of Wales arrives at the Shaping Us National Symposium at the Design Museum on November 15, 2023 in London, England. A staff member at the private hospital where Kate Middleton was treated tried to access the Princess of Wales’ medical files, it has been alleged.

The London Clinic in Marylebone is an elite private hospital that has long discretely treated royals, celebrities and top politicians including John F Kennedy.

So it was no surprise that the Princess of Wales checked into the facility in January for planned abdominal surgery.

But an insider has told The Mirror that a clinic staffer attempted to view her private medical notes.

Someone with inside knowledge said, 'This is a major security breach and incredibly damaging for the hospital, given its unblemished reputation for treating members of the Royal Family.’

Kensington Palace and Kate have been made aware of the incident, the newspaper said.

‘The whole medical staff have been left utterly shocked and distraught over the allegations and were very hurt that a trusted colleague could have allegedly been responsible for such a breach of trust and ethics,’ the insider added.

The London clinic declined to comment on the claims but told the Mirror: ‘We firmly believe that all our patients, no matter their status, deserve total privacy and confidentiality regarding their medical information.’

Kensington Palace said the incident is an internal matter for the London Clinic.

Palace officials revealed Kate had been admitted to the London Clinic on January 17.

Few details were given, other than that the surgery had been successful and her condition was ‘not cancerous’.

She was released almost two weeks later, returning home to Windsor out of public view for up to three months, Kensington Palace said.
