Erling Haaland has handed Manchester City a serious injury scare with the forward seen walking with difficulty while practicing with Norway.
During the last international break of the season, Norway will play friendly matches against Czech Republic and Slovakia this week, and Haaland is among the Premier League players who have returned home for international matches.
Recordings from a training session on Monday, however, show the City star experiencing some discomfort, walking with difficulty across the training pitch while trying to relieve what appears to be a knee problem.
Haaland seemed to shake his head as he walked off the pitch.
City will be hoping that he has avoided any kind of injury as the Premier League champions will be facing Arsenal immediately after the international break on Sunday 31 March.
Arsenal are currently leading the league with just one point ahead of Liverpool and City with 10 games left to play in the season.
Haaland started City’s last game, the 2-0 win over Newcastle United in the FA Cup quarter-finals, but was substituted in the second-half.
Pep Guardiola downplayed suggestions of an injury but did advise his players to be cautious of any issues while on international duty.
‘He is no longer my player from now on, whatever decision they make will be fine,’ Guardiola said. ‘They know that they fought a lot and trained a lot, with a lot of adrenaline and focus to get to this position.
‘They know they are friendly games and they have to handle it wisely. Hopefully they can do it.’
Haaland has scored 29 goals in 34 appearances this season, missing nine games due to injury between December and January.
Kevin de Bruyne is another player who has spent time on the sidelines this season. The midfielder was substituted in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool earlier this month, and also missed the win over Newcastle.
Last week, he was dropped from the Belgium squad ahead of matches against Republic of Ireland and England due to a groin strain, with national team boss Domenico Tedesco uncertain whether the issue is similar to the one that kept de Bruyne out for five months earlier this season.
