Last season, the Celtics sometimes didn't play well against weaker opponents. They went into games expecting to easily win, even without their top players. This lack of focus was evident at times in the playoffs.
But this season, the Celtics came to training camp with a different attitude. They have shown that they are not underestimating anyone, and they have continued to demonstrate this deep into March – even when there is almost nothing left for them to play for before the playoffs.
For the second night in a row, the Celtics handled their business against the worst team in the NBA. A day after defeating the Wizards in the nation’s capital, the Celtics convincingly beat the Pistons 119-94 at TD Garden.
Derrick White achieved his first triple-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Jaylen Brown scored 31 points, while Payton Pritchard contributed 23 and Kristaps Porzingis had 20 as the Celtics secured their sixth consecutive win. With a 54-14 record, they are at a season-high 40 games above .500, and they have accomplished this by handling business against teams they should beat. They improved to 26-1 against teams with subpar records this season, a significant improvement from last season’s 24-10 mark.
