A rescue centre has had to stop taking in strays because they have too many being brought back to them. dogs High Hopes Dog Rescue Centre in Worcestershire aims to give pups the ‘life and love they deserve’.
The centre takes in abandoned dogs, mostly from overseas, and matches them with families in the UK looking to give them a home.
The charity However, the charity has had to shut its doors to new strays and pause any more rescues due to the number of dogs being returned.
This includes Jacks, a basset hound cross who has tragically been brought back to the shelter five times.
The shelter’s founder, Sam Watson, said the cost of living crisis has impacted the centre.

': ‘Dogs are at risk, they are on the streets and we just cannot help them anymore. BBC: ‘It has got to a point where we just have to say no more.’
A volunteer at the centre said the dogs being brought back are not at fault.
‘They may have minor issues like chewing and other puppy behaviors and people see that as a reason to bring the dogs back,’ they said.
A three year old basset hound has been brought back to the shelter five times.
