Former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi tried to do a spinning kick on a fan as Trabzonspor fans went onto the field to attack Fenerbahce’s players in a violent Turkish clash on Sunday.
Batshuayi scored a late winner for Fenerbahce in the Süper Lig match while former Manchester United midfielder Fred scored twice but chaos happened at the end of the match.
Trabzonspor supporters rushed onto the field at Papara Park, where tensions had been high, to confront various Fenerbahce stars who had to defend themselves.
It started to get violent right after Batshuayi’s 87th-minute goal as Trabzonspor fans threw various objects from the stands onto the field.
Things only got worse as Fenerbahce celebrated their victory in the middle of the field as one fan fought past stewards towards the players.
That saw Nigeria international Bright Osayi-Samuel, who previously played for English clubs Queens Park Rangers and Blackpool, forced to protect himself.
Osayi-Samuel was seen hitting the supporter as even more fans came onto the field with one approaching Batshuayi.
The ex-Chelsea and Crystal Palace star then did a spinning high kick – a clip which has gone viral on social media.
Security forces protected Fenerbahce stars back to the changing rooms while manager Ismail Kartal condemned the scenes in a lengthy statement on the club’s website.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s interior minister, Ali Yerlikaya, tweeted: ‘After the Trabzonspor-Fenerbahçe football match played this evening, identification efforts regarding the spectators entering the field and an investigation into the events that took place after the match were immediately launched.
‘Sports is, above all, sportsmanship. It is never acceptable for violence to occur on football fields. The public will be informed about the developments.’
