Liverpool player Darwin Nunez has pulled out of the Uruguay team for their upcoming international games due to 'physical problems'.
Nunez played the entire 120 minutes in the 4-3 FA Cup defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, providing two assists as the Reds were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
The 24-year-old faced criticism from Ian Wright after the match, who called out Nunez for his poor defending over Marcus Rashford’s goal in extra-time.
Nunez has been an important player for Jurgen Klopp this season, creating 17 goals and 14 assists in 42 games in all competitions.
He was supposed to join up with Uruguay for their matches against the Basque Country and the Ivory Coast on March 23 and March 26 respectively.
But 'physical problems' have led him to pull out and according to reports, Nunez will now stay in Liverpool to concentrate on his recovery.
Nunez’s injury is not thought to be serious but the player has experienced 'problems' in the last week.
Liverpool are not back in action until March 31 due to the international break and their next top-flight match sees them take on Brighton at Anfield.
Klopp’s side current sit second in the Premier League table, level on points with leaders Arsenal, while third-placed Manchester City are just one point behind.
All three clubs have just 10 top-flight fixtures remaining with the title race set to go all the way.
