Dillian Whyte called his opponent a 'coward' following his successful return, which was his first fight after being cleared of doping charges.
Whyte returned to the ring in Ireland on Sunday to face Romanian fighter Christian Hammer, and easily won in the third round of a quiet match.
The match, not televised, was completely controlled by Whyte, who won when Hammer didn't get up from his stool before the fourth round.
The 35-year-old was visibly upset when he was declared the winner, and later accused his opponent of being unwilling to fight and called him a 'coward'.
'He was negative the whole time,' Whyte said after the fight. 'As soon as I hit him, he was negative. I told him after that he was a coward, and I meant it.
‘I’m so frustrated. I’ve put so much work into preparing for this fight and to have him quit after just three rounds is so frustrating.
‘I told him afterwards in the ring that I always respected him, but tonight he was a coward.’
Whyte had not fought since his win over Jermaine Franklin in November 2022 after he was given a doping ban right before his highly anticipated rematch with Anthony Joshua in August last year.
The ‘Body Snatcher’ appealed the ‘adverse finding’, and his innocence was confirmed earlier this month after an investigation revealed that the positive test was due to a contaminated supplement.
Eager to make up for lost time, Whyte expressed his desire to have three more fights by the end of the year.
‘I’ve been through a lot of hell, a lot of darkness, and pent-up frustration and aggression,’ he told Boxing Social.
‘Wherever I can be busy, then I’ll go there and fight. I’m running out of time. I’m not getting any younger.’
