A mother is speaking out about a terrible situation where she and her small dog were attacked by a Rottweiler without a leash, resulting in lasting facial scars for her.
Shue Leung, 52, was walking her pet near their house in Hampshire when the Rottweiler, which was not on a leash, pulled her to the ground.
As she tried to protect her dog from harm, the Rottweiler went for her face.
Ms Leung suffered serious facial injuries and was left in a pool of blood, and she says the scars will be permanent.
A bystander called for an ambulance and she was taken to the hospital, where she received about 70 stitches to close the wounds on her face.
‘I was walking my dog. Every morning we do it about that time,’ she told the Daily Echo.
‘Just outside our neighbours, I noticed a Rottweiler was off the lead with no muzzle. The owner was walking very far behind him.
‘That is where the Rottweiler saw us. I raised up my dog hoping to grab him.
‘With his full force he pushed me onto the ground. He tried to grab my dogs front arm.
‘I was holding my dog tight. I was curled up so the Rottweiler couldn’t get to my dog.
‘After the dog then attacked me the owner then ran to stop the dog. If the owner had been a bit slower my face could have been worse.’
When Shue got to the hospital, she had to wait over four hours for surgery.
She was left in ‘awful’ pain and spent five hours in theatre.
Ms Leung has said she doesn’t want people to see her scars, and now ‘fears’ going outside.
‘I don’t even want to look at myself in the mirror’, she said.
