Jurgen Klopp has mentioned that three Liverpool players might have gotten injured during the intense 4-3 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup.
Liverpool’s hopes of winning a quadruple were ended by their arch-rivals on Sunday, when Amad Diallo scored the winning goal in the 121st minute.
The Reds seemed quite tired at Old Trafford due to the numerous games and injury crisis affecting the players.
Some of them will now have a few weeks of rest as the international break begins, but Klopp is worried about the fitness of three forwards.
‘Now, the boys go on international duty. We hope they come back healthy,’ he told BBC Match of the Day.
‘Lucho [Luis Diaz] felt his groin, Darwin [Nunez] felt his hamstring. Hopefully not bad.
‘Cody [Gakpo] twisted his ankle. They play again in four or five days, it’s crazy. Hopefully we will finish the season in style.
‘I really feel for our people. In a few weeks we come again and we give it another try.
‘You cannot compare our season to United’s with the amount of games. It’s fine, we deal with it.’
All three forwards will be busy with their national teams over the next two weeks, Diaz with Colombia, Nunez with Uruguay and Gakpo with the Netherlands.
The trio are vital for Liverpool having scored 41 goals and made 23 assists between them so far this season.
Having already won the Carabao Cup, they still have a great chance of winning the Premier League and Europa League, with a clash against Brighton at Anfield on 31 March up next.
