Arsenal legend Ian Wright ripped into Darwin Nunez following Liverpool’s FA Cup quarter-final loss to arch rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Liverpool was 2-1 ahead at half-time and 3-2 ahead in extra-time but then lost to Erik ten Hag’s side at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford’s goal in the 112th minute made it 3-3 before Aman Diallo scored in added time to avoid a penalty shootout and secure a semi-final spot.
Wright was particularly unimpressed with Liverpool star Nunez for Rashford’s goal in extra-time in his analysis for ITV.
‘You have to look at Darwin Nunez there,’ Wright said when watching back Rashford’s strike as he criticized Liverpool’s defending.
‘What are you doing there? He has the ability to play it to the left-back. You don’t put it back into that area. You just don’t do that.’
Asked about Diallo’s winner, Wright added: ‘You could tell Amad has got everything out of it. It’s not a clean strike but it’s perfect.’
Diallo, meanwhile, was thrilled with his extra-time winner and said: ‘Dream come true. That goal will give me a lot of confidence and I want to continue like this. I’m very happy. The most important thing is to win this game.
‘I wanted to give it back to Garnacho but I saw the defender and I had to go on my own.
'It's unbelievable, it's a dream for me to score the last goal for Manchester United. I want to say thanks to the supporters. It is one of the best games of the season so we want to continue like this.’
