A volcano in Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula has erupted suddenly without warning, sending large fountains of lava shooting hundreds of feet into the air.
The latest volcanic eruption is part of a series of eruptions that have been occurring on the peninsula since December.
The most recent eruption happened near Sýlingarfell on February 8, but volcanic activity seemed to have decreased significantly since then, and the tourist board had informed visitors that it was safe to visit the area once again.
According to experts, the latest eruption seems to be in the same location as the first and third eruptions.
This marks the seventh time the volcano has erupted in three years.
