Peter Crouch and Steve Sidwell selected their top five current Premier League strikers and Mohamed Salah beat Erling Haaland as the number one striker on their list.
Some people might not consider Salah as a striker, which makes the list somewhat controversial, but the former Premier League stars decided to include the Egyptian in more of a ‘forwards’ category.
The two were talking on That Peter Crouch Podcast and began their top five with Brentford’s Ivan Toney, followed by Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
At number three was another potential non-striker, Tottenham superstar Son Heung-min, but the South Korean player still made the cut.
Following Son Heung-min, Haaland was placed at number two behind Salah, who was chosen over the Norwegian due to his longer time in the top flight.
The Liverpool legend is now at number 10 in the all-time Premier League goal-scoring charts with 154 top flight goals.
Haaland has been quickly closing in on this record, with 54 goals in 58 Premier League appearances for Manchester City, but he still has a long way to go.
The list did not include players like Marcus Rashford, Alexander Isak or Darwin Nunez, and even players like Bukayo Saka or Phil Foden might have a case for inclusion if Salah and Son are on the list.
Salah will be aiming to make a comeback in the Liverpool starting XI after an injury and possibly continue to move up the all-time Premier League scorers list by the end of the season.
He would need an impressive performance in the remaining games of the season, but the 31-year-old is now just eight goals behind Jermain Defoe and nine behind Robbie Fowler.
With 10 games left for Liverpool in the Premier League, it’s possible for him to reach those numbers before the end of the campaign.
