A source confirmed to the Herald that the Patriots and outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings have agreed to a 3-year, $12 million contract which could reach $24 million.
Jennings, a 2020 third-round selection, is returning after less than a day of the team reaching an agreement with fellow 2020 edge rusher Josh Uche. Jennings had a career year last season, starting 14 games and recording 1.5 sacks. He was also one of the best run defenders at the position. His return addresses a need for the Patriots, who now have him, Uche, Matt Judon and others back at the position.
The Patriots drafted Jennings in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft from Alabama. Alongside Uche, safety Kyle Dugger (transition tag), and offensive lineman Mike Onwenu, Jennings is the fourth player from the 2020 draft class that the Patriots have re-signed this offseason.
NFL Media was the first to report on the deal.
