Locals in a Japanese city have been cautioned to stay away from a cat that fell into a vat of harmful chemicals.
Surveillance video captured the moment the missing cat fell into the chemical vat at the Nomura Plating factory in Fukuyama, Japan, and then ran away.
After the cat ran away, small yellow brown pawprints were found on the factory floor, but locals have been told to watch out for the animal.
The cat might act strangely because it has dangerous chemicals on its body and fur.
The vat had hexavalent chromium, which can cause skin irritation, breathing issues, and even blindness.
A company spokesperson said: ‘The incident made us realize the need to prevent small animals like cats from sneaking in, which we hadn't expected before.’
The cat’s whereabouts are currently unknown, but the environmental team for Fukuyama City has said the animal may have already died from its injuries.
The Nomura Plating Factory said a part of the sheet covering the chemical tank was 'turned over'.
There have been no reported sightings of the cat since it left its yellow pawprints in the factory.
