Dwight Yorke has proposed his former team Manchester United to consider bringing Romelu Lukaku back to the club this summer.
Lukaku moved to United from Everton in 2017 for £75million, making him the club’s third most expensive signing.
He had a strong first season in Manchester under Jose Mourinho, scoring 27 goals in all competitions, but later fell out of favor and scored only 15 times in 45 appearances in his final season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Lukaku joined Inter in 2019, had a great season in Italy, and then returned to Chelsea the following year.
His time at Chelsea was also disappointing, and he has spent the last two seasons on loan with Inter and Roma this season. The 30-year-old has found some form with 18 goals in all competitions, but it is unlikely to resurrect his prospects at Stamford Bridge.
Given Lukaku’s scoring record, Yorke believes that having the Belgian on loan would be a smart financial move for his former club.

. ‘I think Man United or Tottenham should take Lukaku on a loan deal and agree to pay a certain amount of his wages. OLBG‘Despite what people say about Lukaku, he has an impressive goal-scoring record and doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves.
‘If you have a determined Lukaku who wants to play for you, he’s a match-winner and a handful for any opponent in the world.
‘Man United have invested heavily in Rasmus Hojlund, but if you want to compete with the best then Lukaku is the player who can score 15 to 20 goals in a season, which is invaluable and hard to find in today’s game.
‘Lukaku is still only 30 years old and a proven goal-scorer. I think whoever gets him on a loan deal will have made a good and clever business decision.’
It is expected that United will bring in another striker this summer to alleviate the pressure on Rasmus Hojlund, who has scored 13 times in his first season in England.
His fate will be determined by Chelsea…
