Bukayo Saka says he would rather win the Premier League than the Champions League with Arsenal this season.
Mikel Arteta’s team have earned their spot in Friday’s Champions League quarter-final draw after defeating Porto in the second leg of their last-16 match at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Arsenal are also leading the Premier League based on goal difference ahead of their upcoming match against Manchester City after the international break on March 31.
When asked by Thierry Henry if he’d rather win the Premier League or the Champions League with Arsenal this season, Saka said on CBS Sports: ‘Wow, I think… he’s not going to let me say both.
‘If I had to choose, this season, I’d say the Premier League.
‘But I want, both, I want both.’
When asked the same question by Henry in his interview with the US broadcaster, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya simply replied: ‘Both.’
Meanwhile, Arteta has emphasized that his Arsenal players are still eager to enhance their performance after two close matches against Porto.
‘It’s another significant step, especially as a club,’ Arteta said.
‘The last seven years we haven’t been in this competition, the last 14 we haven’t been where we are today.
‘That’s the difficulty of it, the best thing is we are not satisfied, we want more and we are going to try to go through the next round for sure.’
Asked if Arsenal can think about winning the Champions League after eliminating Porto, Arteta said: ‘It’s still very far.
‘And now when I sit at home I’m going to look at the teams who we have to play and you start another big mountain to climb.’
