Former President Trump has officially stated that he is supporting Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) as she seeks to win her reelection in November.
On TruthSocial, Trump posted the endorsement, calling Mace a 'strong, conservative voice' who has 'worked hard' to assist Trump in winning the South Carolina GOP primary. win in the South Carolina GOP primary.
“It is my great honor to Endorse a Strong Conservative Voice for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District,” Trump wrote on Saturday, adding, “Nancy Mace worked hard campaigning across South Carolina in support of our Record-Breaking WIN.”
“In Congress, she is fighting to Secure the Border, Strengthen our Military, Support our Veterans, Uphold the Rule of Law, Stop Political Weaponization, and Protect and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment. Congresswoman Nancy Mace has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”
Trump’s endorsement of Mace comes as he defeated former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley (R) in her home state. He received numerous endorsements from GOP lawmakers in South Carolina, such as the current South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R) and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.). Haley has since dropped out of the race.
Mace is seeking reelection for the seat she has held since 2020. In the past, she has been critical of Trump, openly opposing the former president shortly after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
In her 2022 race, she faced a tough primary against a candidate backed by Trump, Katie Arrington, a former state legislator. Mace emerged victorious in the primary and subsequently won the general election.
Mace endorsed Trump in January, choosing not to support Haley, whom she campaigned with during her 2022 House reelection campaign.
In this election cycle, Mace is encountering primary challengers from individuals who were previously associated with her. Her former chief of staff, Dan Hanlon, has filed to run in the district, along with former state agency official Catherine Templeton, who was endorsed by Arrington.
