Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Friday that he would not reject the opportunity to work for former President Trump again if he is reelected in November.
When asked by Fox News’s Neil Cavuto if he would think about working under Trump again, Pompeo mentioned that he found it “flattering” to hear his name being mentioned. He joked that it must mean he didn’t mess up in the first four years.
“I typically don’t talk about jobs that I haven’t been offered,” he told the “Your World Cavuto” host on Friday, but indicated that he would likely say yes if given the chance to serve and believes he can make a difference for the American people. told “I’m confident President Trump will be looking for people who will faithfully carry out his requests,” he continued after Cavuto suggested the former president would expect loyalty. “I think as a president, you should always want that from everyone.”
He added that he would want his team to do the same.
He mentioned that as secretary of state, he wanted his team to follow his instructions and was very frustrated when they didn’t.
He hinted that he still expects a rematch between Trump and President Biden in November.
The ex-secretary also commented on No Labels’ decision to enter the 2024 presidential race. Cavuto asked Pompeo to share his thoughts on No Labels’ move to formally join the 2024 race for the presidency. The organization, established to garner support for a third-party ticket, has not yet announced a candidate. He stated that the political party system has been a determining factor in electing presidents for many years and doesn’t foresee a change this time.
Additionally, he expressed skepticism about the ability of No Labels to attain success, either in winning the presidency or changing the political landscape.
Pompeo also mentioned that the lack of a candidate may hinder No Labels’ progress.
Finally, he suggested that a Trump-Biden rematch is likely in November.
Rather than a third-party candidate, he foresees a Trump-Biden rematch in November.
