Francis Ngannou has promised to keep boxing despite his devastating KO loss to Anthony Joshua and acknowledges he was taken aback by his opponent’s ‘timing’ during their match.
Joshua showed a remarkable performance in Saudi Arabia on Friday night as he only needed two rounds to defeat Ngannou.
The two-time heavyweight champion knocked down Ngannou three times during the fight, and the ex-UFC heavyweight champion required oxygen and attention from the ringside doctor after experiencing Joshua’s brutal knockout punch.
When asked about his feelings after being knocked out by Joshua, Ngannou responded, ‘I feel sad.’
Despite losses to both Joshua and Tyson Fury, Ngannou maintains he will continue boxing.
‘I believe I can still do both,’ Ngannou stated.
‘I’m going to take some time to rest, come back and make it.
‘I knew what I was doing was dangerous to come to the top of the game from my beginning and that’s what happened.’
When asked what surprised him about Joshua, Ngannou remarked, ‘I believe he had the perfect timing.
‘It was mainly about the timing.’
In a different interview with Seconds Out regarding his intention to continue boxing, Ngannou mentioned: Absolutely, I feel at this point I have a responsibility to keep going, I feel boxing owes me now and I plan to collect what it owes me.
‘I appreciate the support. As always, I will come back. This was a fall, I lost the battle tonight but the war is still on.
‘At the end of the day it’s a matter for me, I believe the greatest victory for me is to keep fighting, and defeat is not actually losing the fight, defeat would be like giving up or letting it affect you.’
