KING OF PRUSSIA — The King of Prussia District holds its annual KOP Restaurant Week and KOP Shops for CHOP events, running until March 15.
The event focuses on dining and shopping in King of Prussia and supports Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s King of Prussia campus, including the Middleman Family Pavilion and CHOP Specialty and Urgent Care Centers.
It is the region’s only extended dining and shopping events with a charitable twist, with participating restaurants and businesses donating a portion of their proceeds to CHOP, as stated on the King of Prussia District’s website.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of KOP Restaurant Week, which began in 2014. KOP Shops for CHOP started in 2019.
KOP Restaurant Week offers two-course lunches priced from $15 to $25 and three-course dinners from $30 to $50 from more than 22 fine dining restaurants, as well as donation days and deals from eight quick service restaurants, according to the district. KOP Shops for CHOP includes donation days and special discounts from more than 15 retailers.
“When we created KOP Restaurant Week 10 years ago at the urging of our restaurant community, we had no idea that it would have the impact that it does today,” said Eric Goldstein, president & CEO of King of Prussia District, in a statement.
Since its start in 2014, the event has grown each year, expanding beyond the restaurant and retail industry in support of CHOP. To date, diners and shoppers have raised $366,311 for CHOP’s lifesaving treatment and research. The contributions have steadily increased each year — from $11,500 in 2014, to $76,187 in 2023.
Last year’s donation set a record and was more than 10% higher than the 2022 campaign donation, according to the King of Prussia District.
“In honor of our 10th anniversary, we hope to set a new fundraising record for an institution that continues to change the lives of so many in our region,” Goldstein added.
Last year’s donation total also included proceeds raised during the May 7 block party at the King of Prussia Town Center, which served as the presentation of the donation to representatives from CHOP.
This year’s Block Party for CHOP will be held on Sunday, April 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. in King of Prussia Town Center (April 28 rain date). Main Street will close to make way for entertainment, carnival games, fire trucks, face painting, raffles, balloon art and more. More than 2,100 people attended the 2023 Block Party.
“What started as a small restaurant week with a handful of participating restaurants ten years ago has grown into a beloved community-wide event that now includes retailers and businesses of all kinds fundraising for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s King of Prussia Campus,” said Rachel Ammon, director of marketing & communications for King of Prussia District, in a statement. “We are humbled by the support for this event each year and invite everyone to come out to King of Prussia to help us celebrate 10 years of dining and shopping for CHOP.”
King of Prussia businesses have also agreed to help CHOP through the Community Champion Program. They can donate $300 or more to CHOP through the King of Prussia District program or host their own fundraisers.
The King of Prussia District aims to collect $3,000 through a Facebook Raffle until March 15. The prizes include restaurant and retailer gift cards. on KOP Restaurant Week’s Facebook page. People who donate $10 get 1 virtual entry, $20 get 3 entries, and $50 get 10 entries.
