Two-time NBA champion Rajon Rondo was arrested in Indiana for firearm and drug possession.
According to Indiana State Police, Rondo, 37, was driving a black 2022 Tesla that a trooper stopped at about 1 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 65 southbound in Bartholomew County due to reckless driving.
When the trooper pulled over the car, they smelled marijuana and found marijuana, drug items, and a firearm in Rondo's possession. It was stated that Rondo is not allowed to have the gun due to a protection order against him.
A juvenile in the car was released to a family member, as stated by the department.
Rondo was arrested for possessing marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm while being prohibited. He was taken to Jackson County jail and later released on bond. A date for his initial court appearance will be scheduled soon.
Rondo, a four-time All-Star who played for nine teams in 16 years, Rondo played a role in helping the Los Angeles Lakers win the NBA title in 2020. Before that, he played for the Boston Celtics teams that defeated the Lakers in the 2008 NBA Finals and lost to the Lakers in the 2010 Finals.
He also played for the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. His final season in the league was 2021-22.
