This is one of these statistics that just remind you that the 2000’s are nearing their end; according to data published by Opera, young adults who use their browser use the mobile more than the traditional desktop to browse.
“We have often said that the next generation will grow up knowing the Web mostly through their mobile phones,” said Jon von Tetzchner, Co-founder, Opera. “We see this trend already emerging in different regions around the world. The mobile Web will bring a profound change in how we connect with one another. I think the results from this survey already show that change taking place.”
Here are some more stats about the young folks from the US:
74% have browser the mobile web on public transit
30% have posted to their blog from their phone
90% have shared photos via picture messaging
44% have asked someone on a date via text message
15% have read an online newspaper via mobile “frequently”
15% have “never” read an online newspaper via mobile
56% have uploaded content to video-sharing sites
48% are “very comfortable” with the idea of purchasing goods online
70% have online friends they’ve never met in real life
51% of respondents in the U.S. use Opera Mini to access the web more than a desktop or laptop computer. (Most other countries have much higher percentages.)
